There are several features on
this web site designed to improve accessibility for
users with disabilities. Some of these features
are described below. This site contains no video,
audio, or image maps. The site does not use
frames, pop-ups, or blinking.Alt Tags
When relevant, images on the site
contain “alt tags” with descriptions of the image,
which aid users who listen to the content of the site
by using a screen reader, rather than reading the
site. Care has been taken to ensure purely visual
graphics have blank tags.
A “skip to” link provides users with
a method for bypassing repetitive links and going
directly to the main content each time a web page is
accessed. Skip to links are at the top of each
page, immediately following the home link. A
tabindex of one was set to each of these, forcing it
to the front when tabbing through pages.
Labeling
The web page has three contact forms,
which have been made accessible using LABEL and ID tags
to make each cell easily navigable. Natural
language is used for these labels. A long
description is used where applicable. Table
headings are used when appropriate.
Multiple
file formats
Large
documents, presentations, and other special
publications that are made available on the web site
are generally available in html format, if appropriate. In some
cases it may have published documents using Adobe Portable
Document Format (PDF). When posting PDF files,
it
follows the How
to Create Accessible Adobe PDF Files and may post
the document with two links. The first link is to the
PDF file and the second is to a copy of the PDF
document by simple conversion to html or simple text.
